H.E. Mr. Yuba Nath Lamsal, Non-resident Ambassador of Nepal to the Kingdom of Norway, presented the Letters of Credence to His Majesty King Harald V, Kingdom of Norway amidst a special ceremony organized at the Royal Palace in Oslo on 24 May 2018.

On the occasion, the Ambassador conveyed to His Majesty the King the greetings and best wishes from the President and Prime Minister of Nepal for His Majesty’s good health and happiness as well as for the continued progress and prosperity of the people of Norway. His Majesty the King also reciprocated the sentiments. His Majesty eagerly asked about recent political developments and the success of the peace process in Nepal.

H.E. Mr. Lamsal also met with Mr. Wegger Strømmen, Secretary General (Foreign Secretary), Mr. Kjell Tormod Pettersen, former Ambassador of Norway to Nepal and Senior Advisor, Ms. Merete Fjeld Brattested, Director General and Chief of Protocol, Ms Lisa Golden, Director, South Asia and Afghanistan of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Norway yesterday. The Ambassador had wide discussions on various matters of bilateral interest including bilateral Cooperation, Trade, Investment, and Tourism. The Ambassador briefed the current political situation and highlighted the favourable situation for investment in Nepal in many sectors including hydropower.

Secretary General Mr. Wegger Strømmen stated that Norway had achieved rapid economic development when many hydropower projects were completed after 1970. He stated that generation of electricity and its internal consumption would greatly help for overall economic development of any country. He also mentioned that Norway’s latest technology especially in micro hydropower sector is also very efficient.
